Genius. I. So. Want. This. :D One problem with me is, when I look at the thickness of the book, I become overwhelmed. This way, I wouldn’t have to worry about having to read 400 pages.

Does it have anti-shake properties so I can read erotic novels and masturbate simultaneously without disturbing the flow of reading?

  3. moonflower0924 says:

could i download books stored in my computer?

  4. axelasdf says:

Nothing to do with power consumption?

  5. axelasdf says:

How often do you read in the dark? It’s fairly common for people to be in lit spaces during their waking hours.

    *aren’t

Is there an updated one coming soon or is it fairly recent? I read a lot and am thinking about buying a kindle, but wouldn’t want to if a new model will be arriving within the next year (books are that bad).

Also, I wish they had Tim Powers’ novels on it. Please go to amazon and request!

What does the Kindle have that the new nook doesn’t?

  9. axnyaxaxlstreim says:

Yep, and their entire purpose for removing the backlight was to take away the strain for your eyes.

  10. ningalex says:

the reason for no back lighting is that reading in the dark is not good for eyes.

  11. axnyaxaxlstreim says:

True, but that really limits where you read. If you were in the car at night you couldn’t read.
It would be great if they enabled you to turn on and off the backlight, or adjust it.
But it’s a matter of personal opinion :)
    I still want one xD

  12. hpis2cool says:

It’s not a downside! It’s just like a book and that’s the point. If it did have back lighting, that would mean that it would be harder to read.

  13. TherapudicCaffeine says:

The male reading voice sounds much better. Anyway, I really want this, but it’s so expensive!

  14. axnyaxaxlstreim says:

Yeah, at first people said it sounded mechanical, almost like a vocaloid voice, but amazon claims people get used to it.

  15. axnyaxaxlstreim says:

They boosted the battery life 25% more, but it mainly only conserves energy because of no back lighting which means you can’t read in the dark, that was a downside.

  16. ceterafan123 says:

    I WANT ONE!!!

  17. LiveLaughLoveYAY says:

Wouldn’t that reading voice get annoying??? It sounds like a GPS device that you’d use in your car. I guess most people probably wouldn’t use this feature anyway. . .

  18. rokas666 says:

    the future. . . :) . . . awesome

  19. rickbar123 says:

i just got one and I love it.
    the thing is great

COST ONE LEG AND ONE ARM
    but i do love it

  20. y0gus says:

$500 is waaay to much for it, i think reasonable price is around $200

anyway there will be new devices soon – much cheaper

  21. rickbar123 says:

    may have been me. . . . . . I lied. . . . . . 8. 7

  22. drknmunky says:

Oh just what I wanna hear. . . . a friggin robot reading to me. Yes, for $500 you think Amazon would have AT LEAST used AT&T’s Natural voices and not the 1980s speak and spell to read to you.

  23. berrouz1986 says:

    Ohh, guys!!!!!
Of cource, it has to be black-white, cause it wouldn’t be so energy-efficiently. . . . But if it’s colored it will cost up to 1500 $
I really like KINDLE DX and gonna buy it nearest future. . .
    Knowledge is much expensive.

  24. Zangloose says:

    in pornos?

  25. keytoothed says:

Buy an iPod touch, get an app like Fictionwise or Stanza, and upload your PDFs that way. $500 for something that basically just an E-ink display is booolshit.
